Reflection of historical facts in a fantastic example of the Star Wars saga

The thesis deals with the issue of depicting long-past and entirely topical historical events in the Star Wars film saga. Given the current size of the Star Wars universe, this work must be limited to films known as "Episodes" (numbered I through IX) and two relatively new feature spin-offs, while everything else will be mentioned only marginally. This work maps in detail how each of the three trilogies of this saga, as well as both spin-offs, show the main problems of the time in which they arose and to which other historical facts they want or can refer. The aim of the work is thus to show that the genre widely regarded as "escape" and "completely detached from reality" reflects historical reality very strongly by its specific artistic means. Portrayal of journalists in selected fantastic novels

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of selected novels of fantastical literature and their subsequent interpretation. The aim is to explore how journalists are portrayed in these works and how their work is evaluated. In the introductory part, I focus on the fantastical genre, including its categories fantasy and science fiction and their sub-genres, such as contemporary and portal fantasy, dystopia, and humorous science fiction. The second chapter focuses on the method used in this thesis, describing qualitative research and content analysis of the texts which I used to analyse the selected novels. The chapter also includes insights on literary characters. The main part of the thesis focuses on specific series of novels, including Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Journalism and media topics are prominent in these works, and each of the series deals with a different type of media, making it possible to compare differences in the portrayal of print media, radio, television, or the internet. The History and Transformation of Czech Magazines Focused on the Fantastic Genres on the Example of the Magazine Pevnost

This thesis aims to introduce the history and transformation of the Czech magazines oriented on the genre Fantastika (also known as SF magazines), using the example of the magazine Pevnost, which is considered to be the flagship of the contemporary Czech fantastic arts journalism. The thesis focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of the magazine Pevnost between 2011-2015, based on which it's possible to uncover more general characteristics and tendencies of contemporary Czech market of SF magazines. Theoretical basis of the thesis defines popular fantastic arts (also known as Fantastika), introduces major theoretical concepts of this term and defines its various genres. It also provides a basic definition and history of the fandom in Czechoslovak, as well as in Czech environment. Fandom is considered to be the basis for the emergence of so called fanzines - amateur or semi-professional SF magazines. On the basis of this, the thesis introduces the evolution of the Czechoslovak and Czech fanzines, as well as professional SF magazines. Frankenstein: Changes of Fantastic Appearance and Terror in Movie Adaptations and Theatre

Master's thesis presents comparison of motifs and images of fantastic appearance and terror in the novel Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley and its film and theatre adaptations, and studies their changes. It deals not only with theoretical problems of fantastic appearance, terror (horror) and adaptation, but especially the Frankenstein myth and its influence on creating these images in given texts. Thesis describes the development of fantastic and horrific images from the literary text towards visual and performance media. The thesis studies the transformation of these images within three film adaptations made by directors J. Searlse Dawley (1910), James Whale (1931) and Kenneth Branagh (1994), and one play written by Nick Dear and directed by Danny Boyle (2011). The Newest Czech Fantasy Literature

This bachelor thesis deals with contemporary czech fantasy literature. In the first part, basic terms like "fantastics", "fantasy" etc will be explained. There is also a chapter about history of the fantasy genre in world and Czech literature. The second part of my paper is focused on authors whose work has began approximately in last twenty years. I also try to elaborate on individual authors' creative styles. Lastly, a special chapter on teenage authors, writing mostly for children and other teenagers, is included.

The Fantastic Modificationes of the Realism in the Czech Short Storry on the Break of the 19th And 20th Century

In this final work we compare fantastic forms of realistic literature in the little formations from the break of the 19th and 20th century. We look for specifics of fantastic in selected texts. By the analysis of mysterious and realistic motives we aim to show the common roots of fantastic literature and its diversity. In the first part we analyse the tales of Karel Švanda ze Semčic and compare the poetics of Švanda and E. T. A. Hoffmann, an important German romantic writer of fantastic proses. In the second part we analyse the texts of Jakub Arbes, Julius Zeyer, Růžena Svobodová and Jiří Karásek. Particularly, we focus on how the mysterious and realistic motives are realized in these texts. Finally, we compare all the texts and observe how do they follow the tradition of romantic fantastic and which other kindes of literature we can distinguish there. We use the method of narratological analysis, the basic literature is Narrative Fiction: Contemporary Poetics of Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan.
